Who is God? He is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. He was not created but always has been and always will be. He is creator of all things. He is sovereign over all matters including that of man. God is holy, righteous and perfect.
God created man. We were created by Him and for Him. We were to obey Him and live sinlessly. We were given one rule and that was to not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. We couldn't abide by that one rule and disobeyed God. Adam and Eve, who were the first created, ate the forbidden fruit and sin entered the world and death through it. Every person who has ever lived has sinned against God and therefore needs the Savior to pay their sin debt or they will stand guilty before God at their judgment.
After the fall of mankind, which God knew would happen, we needed a way to be reconciled to God so God sent His Son, Jesus, to reconcile us. But who is Jesus? Jesus is God in the flesh. He is truly God and truly man. He was sent to die in our place for our rebellion against God. He took a horrible beating and was nailed to a cross where He bled and died so that those who turn to Him in faith will have Him as their Savior and be saved from hell and the wrath of God. While He was on the cross he was standing in our place and going through that agony so that we wouldn't have to. Three days after His death He rose from the dead conquering death, hell and the grave. A person cannot be saved by their own good works but only through repentance of their sin and faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sin. It was His once for all sacrifice that paid our sin debt.
After hearing the good news of Jesus Christ we are to respond by repenting of our sin, which is a turning away from it, and believing that Jesus died for our sin and putting our faith in Him for that glorious act that He did for His people. Those who have done this will have eternal life with God in heaven.
